The inaugural Edmonton Film Prize went to Niobe Thompson for The Perfect Runner, an honour he shares with Trevor Anderson (The Man Who Got Away). Twenty Edmonton-produced films were nominated across all categories.
The Perfect Runner will have two French-language broadcasts on Arte, the first as part of the FĂȘte de la Science on October 13th 2012, and the second on regular Arte programming on October 20th 2012.
With five trips to the podium, Clearwater’s documentary The Perfect Runner won the most awards of any dramatic or non-fiction production at the 2012 Alberta Film Awards. Niobe Thompson picked up Rosies for Best Director, Best Screenwriter and Best Documentary over 30 Minutes, while Daron Donahue and Michael McLaughlin won Best Cinematographer and Brenda Terning
